FAQ

Monarch National Insurance, common questions

Is Monarch National the same company as FedNat?

No, but it holds much of FedNat's old book. Monarch National Insurance Company (NAIC #15715) assumed the majority of FedNat Insurance Company's Florida policies effective June 2022 when FedNat exited the market, and has been majority-owned by funds managed by Hale Partnership Capital Management since. If your policy moved from FedNat to Monarch, Monarch is the carrier that owes your claim.

How do I report or dispute a Monarch claim?

Report a claim at 800-293-2532 or through monarchnational.com/claims; confirm the current number on their site. To dispute a decision, request the full claim file and the specific policy basis in writing. A below-deductible closure is a scoping decision: answer it with an independent contractor's estimate of the full scope. Florida offers free DFS mediation for residential claims and most policies include appraisal. In Florida you generally have 1 year from the date of loss to give notice and 18 months for supplemental claims (Fla. Stat. 627.70132); confirm your dates with counsel.

IN THE DENIAL RECORD

We read 1,891 Civil Remedy Notices filed against Florida property insurers over denied claims. 21 of them name Monarch National Insurance (NAIC 15715). 1 were later withdrawn or recorded as resolved, which is what the record looks like when a carrier fixes the problem inside the 60-day window.

West Palm BeachACCEPTED 2/27/2025$116,346

The Insureds promptly reported the loss to Insurer and complied with all applicable post-loss obligations. The Insurer ultimately inspected the Property to evaluate the loss, and Insurer went on to deny coverage on the Insureds' claim despite clear indications that the roof sustained wind damage, which led to ensuing interior damages. The Insureds' public adjuster provided the Insurer with a true and accurate estimate of the related damages, extensive detailed photographs of the damages, a properly executed sworn proof of loss, a wind report evidencing the 54 mph winds on the reported date of loss, and complied with all of the Insurer's requests for documentation and information.

North Fort MyersACCEPTED 10/31/2024$388,692

After application of the hurricane deductible and "depreciation," the Insurer provided payment of only $4,187.49 on the Insured's claim. However, the Insurer and its agents failed and refused to properly investigate, inspect, evaluate, adjust and pay the Insured's hurricane/windstorm damage claim and failed to tender all insurance proceeds due and owing to the Insured under the subject insurance policy. Immediately pay the Insured's hurricane/windstorm damage claim in the amount of the Semper fi's damage estimate of $388,692.82, less the applicable deductible and depreciation.

Counts are filings naming the insurer, matched on NAIC code. They follow book size as much as behaviour: a carrier with more Florida policies collects more filings. Each is an allegation by a policyholder, not a finding.

Denied or underpaid? Fight it with the carriers’ own playbook.

LICENSED · SOUTH CAROLINALICENSED · FLORIDA

Halversen Law is a property-insurance law firm licensed in South Carolina and Florida that represents policyholders, never carriers. Since 2008, the firm has taken on denied, underpaid, and delayed claims across the full range of storm and property losses: wind and hurricane damage, water disputes, roof claims, and commercial and condominium losses. Its attorneys spent the early part of their careers defending insurance companies, and now use that inside knowledge of the carrier playbook, how an adjuster builds a denial and where the file is weak, to fight for the policyholder on the other side of it. Cases are handled on contingency: no fee unless you recover.
